Samsung Zeal Performance Review
The Samsung Zeal has become you can find at Verizon wireless carrier, but comparable to Verizon did with all the U740/Alias, the Zeal is only a renamed Alias 2, including a shared U750 model number. That Verizon would reintroduce this phone at least a year and a half after its initial launch talks to just where we’re also inside the market at the moment. While smartphones are simultaneously redefining what you can do using a mobile device, in addition to seeping to the basic market (LG Optimus One, Samsung Galaxy 5) feature phones are becoming lost within the fray.
Design
On the outside, the Samsung Zeal resembles many a Samsung flip phone, like the Samsung Haven. The lines are straight and angular, despite having some rounded corners. Hematite accents get into character the black, plastic body, which measures 4 inches tall by 2 inches wide by 0.7 inch thick. (The Alias 2 was metallic dark gray with black accents.) The Zeal feels substantial enough at 4.34 ounces. Although it’s around the tall side, it cradles nicely about the ear and it’s really slim enough for the majority of pockets.
Keyboard
To pay for any undeniable fact that you can be opening the Zeal in a variety of directions, Samsung provides e-ink technology. It indicates while you open the Samsung Zeal being a clam shell phone, the grid of buttons will transform into your familiar 10 digit layout with directional controls above and dedicated buttons for items like Bluetooth, voice dial and camera along the sides. Close the phone and open it sideways as well as screen will blink briefly before displaying the keypad in landscape mode, by using a dedicated button to change the keypad into a QWERTY display or perhaps a digit display. Pressing the QWERTY button changes the keyboard to a QWERTY keyboard instantly. You’ll notice a rapid flash of black prior to the e-ink settles to its new location. An intriguing and quirky little feature that may grab a person’s eye of the non-smartphone users.
Features
The Samsung Zeal can be a mobile phone that also includes Social Beat Widget allowing users to live connected to Facebook®, Twitter™ and MySpace™ plus more than 50 news, sports and entertainment feeds; VZ Navigator® foa audible turn-by-turn directions to a lot of landmarks and share the directions web-sites; a Media Center for access downloadable games, ringtones, wallpapers, location-based services plus much more; is Skype mobile™ capable and Mobile Web capable. The mobile phone also incorporates a full suite of messaging options, including text, picture, video and voice messaging; Mobile IM; Mobile Chat; Mobile Email; and Mobile Web Email and has now a microSD™ card slot with support for 32 GB (card purchased separately). The Samsung Zeal also carries a personal organizer with calendar, calculator with currency converter, notepad, alarm clock, world clock preventing watch.
Camera and Multimedia
The 2-megapixel camera has five resolution settings that consist of 1,600×1,200 pixels to 160×120 pixels. You will find five color effects,a white-balance setting, and four ISO presets. Metering, icon displays, night mode, and sound effects join the fray, as well as three shooting modes. The photo quality isn’t detrimental to 2 megapixels, so we appreciate the range of post-production editing options, like photo effects and clip art decorations. The Samsung Zeal features the conventional Verizon media player. It’s not the maximum media player on earth but it really does its job also it does its job fairly well. The golfer stop the music activity for those who have incoming calls and definitely will resume in the event the call ends. A very important factor to notice is that the music stop occasionally if you’re attempting to multitask on the phone. Being a smartphone power user, the belief that multitasking caused stress was frustrating, except for those who find themselves not smartphone power users, or individuals that don’t prefer to use smartphones, the Samsung Zeal seemed sufficient enough for the job.The camcorder settings are similar to the camera, and will include an alternative to limit video recordings to A short period for use in multimedia messages. Video is choppy on playback, that’s expected for just a feature phone with lightweight camera power.
Performance
Call quality was mediocre on our end. Though voices sounded natural, the calls had a fuzzy veil. There have been no background blips or another echoing distortions, however. Our callers, alternatively, thought we sounded clear, in case your bit hollow and unnatural–not quite “us.”Speakerphone calls sounded typical to ears: quieter, with hollow-sounding and distant voices from my end, but we’ve heard worse and may go on a conversation that way. With regards to part, our friends said we sounded distant, but mostly clear and intelligible.
Battery live
VZ Navigator as well as some other Verizon specific applications, Ipod, and use of a web-based marketplace which provides usage of hordes of other apps, in addition to a battery that yields five hours of talk-time on one. Read more Cellphone Review and Guide.
