How to Develop Your Own Cell Phone Apps

One of the hottest questions that we receive these days is about cell phone applications – apps.   Most of these questions ask about whether you can become a marketer of your own apps in this fast-growing market.  The answer to that question is a resounding Yes.  While it certainly started with the iPhone, it has now gone well beyond that to literally all smart cell phone usage.   And No, you do not need to be a registered iPhone app provider.   While it certainly helps to be considered by other platforms to be a current supplier of apps for the iPhone, it is not necessary.

The most important thing for you to know in this regard is that this market is so huge that literally anyone can get into it and prosper greatly.  This is a market segment that is wide open to any determined IM.   Well, what does an IM need to know or do to get started in this market?   You need to become a knowledgeable designer.  This means that you need to study your niche, learn what it is all about and what kinds of apps would produce results.

The second step is to become a successful app developer.   Unless you are a technical programmer, most people start out using contractors.   Most of these companies are development firms that work on an hourly basis or quote the entire job.   They take an application summary statement or design template and generate a quote – of dollars and timeframe.  Most of these firms that are competitive will quote in the $30/Hr range.  When you make an agreement, they develop and test the app.   Your final signoff and terminal payment occurs when the app is system tested in a working condition.  If you decide to do your own app programming be sure to run your registry software regularly. You can purchase and download the best registry package that does this.  They also perform the other registry cleaner functions that accomplish any needed Registry Repair

The next phase is distribution of the app – into the hands of the cellular application providers.   These are the middlemen – between the developers and the cellular network owners.  These are not cell phone manufacturers, they are the owners of the networks, typically with or without their own microwave towers.

The last phase in the process is to actually start marketing your apps.   While it is beyond the scope of this article, it is typical once again, for most IMs to start their efforts in this regard with the help of third-party marketing firms.   This is also done by contract and people normally get their basic experience at this level and move up to being their own marketing services promoter.
