Tips on Getting a Good Night Sleep

When you had a poor night sleep, for sure you will wake in the morning without feeling revitalized and alert.  This in turn will have a significant effect on your day.  For some, a four-hour sleep is enough but most needs a six to eight-hour sleep to feel refreshed the next day.

Most of us, at some point, had trouble in getting a good night sleep.  There are number of reasons and factors that determine how well one can sleep each night.  Statistically, external and environmental factors are the ones that deprive one to get a good night sleep.  To facilitate a good night sleep, here are some doable tips:

1. Listen to Instrumental or Relaxation CDs – When it is about time for you to sleep, put an instrumental or relaxation CD on your player.  Classical music played in a low background volume is popular to induce sleep.  Sounds of nature like that of a forest and a brook are also proven to be bring a soothing feeling that can put one to nice and relaxing slumber.

2. Read a Good Book – Regardless of the position, some people fall asleep while reading.  A good book with a plot that will make you forget the usual busy day may help you to drift into a deep sleep.

3. Avoid Eating Snacks – Before you go to bed, it is discouraged that you eat snacks, especially grains or those with high sugars.  A raise on your blood sugar can ruin your sleep.  Once your sugar level raises and then falls all of a sudden, you may not be able to fall back to sleep.

4. Put the Lights Off – Most people cannot sleep with the lights on.  Try to sleep in the darkness.   If you are not comfortable sleeping without any lights, put a power saver night lamp in an electrical socket right next to your bed.  Bright big lights often disrupt the night’s sleep and often make it hard to sleep again.  This also involves turning the television off for you may be able to scan on a channel that will get you hooked up and stimulate your brain to stay awake much longer.

5. Sleep on a Warm Comfortable Bed – A cold bed is not conducive for sleeping.  You will never get to sleep shivering.  Have a pre-warmed bed using heated mattress pads or massage table warmers and you will surely fall asleep in few minutes.   Additionally, the heat emanating from the mattress pads also help relax sore muscles and back pains.  If you are worrying about your electric bill, heated mattress pads or massage table warmers are much cheaper than having a heating unit.

A good night sleep sets you up for the next day.  Do not ruin your day for being sleep-deprived the night before.  Check the best bed warmers on the web right now.
